Effects of Frequent Maxillary Antral Lavage on Chronic Maxillary Sinusitis in Children



Abstract
During the period of Jan. 1992 to May. 1992, 12 sides of 8 cases of pediatric maxillary sinusitis (5 ? 13 years old, average 7 years old) were treated with frequent antral irrigation for several days. Antral uncture was done through the inferior
meatus
with a 14G 31/4inch Angiocatheter under the general nesthesia and then a plastic tube of canula was left in the antrum. The antral lavage was performed (?)rough this tube 2~3 times daily for 3 to 9 days (average 6days) The opacity of maxillary
sinus at
ost-treatment was improved compared with pre-treatment in Water's view. This improvement was found (?) 11sides of 7cases after treatment except one case. The result indicates that frequent antral lavege (?) an useful therapeutic modality for
chronic
maxillary sinusitis in children.
